Lifeguards
Indoors at West Shore Natatorium: Lifeguards and supervisors needed to work Rec Swim
during any of the following times: Saturdays, 4-6 pm; Sundays, 2-5 pm, and
weekday evenings (year-round) and mornings (summer) at various times. American Red Cross certification
required. For information contact

Employment Dates: year-round, flexible schedule.
Hourly Rate: $8-10.
Water
Safety Instructors -
Teach Learn-to-Swim lessons for children in the evening (and
daytime in the summer) at West Shore
Natatorium. American Red Cross WSI certification required. For information contact
Todd Miller.
Employment Dates: year-round. Hourly Rate: $10-13.
Water Safety Aide - Volunteer to assist in a
Learn-to-Swim class for children in the evening at
West Shore Natatorium. Appropriate for teens and adults who have Level 4
skills. Students: this is a great way to gain community service hours and
valuable experience. Complete and submit an application form. For additional

Summer
Blast Leader
Develop, organize and lead games and crafts
for children ages 6-12 in a
structured park/playground setting. Work hours: Monday - Friday, 8:45 am -
12:15 pm at Roof Park (Fairview Township). Recreation and Education majors
and graduates preferred but not required. Employment Dates: mid-June to
early-August (some additional training dates required). Hourly Rate: $8-10.

Summer
Blast Junior Leader
Develop, organize and lead games and crafts
for children ages 4-6 in a structured park/playground setting. Program
dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, June - July, 8:45 am - 12:15 pm. Pay
range: $14-16 per hour.

Camp Staff Auditions

Day Camp Counselors
Lead children ages 5-8 or 9-11 in recreational activities in a
structured day camp setting. Program includes games, arts & crafts,
swimming, field trips, educational activities and special visitors.
Counselors are responsible for planning and implementing daily activities.
Counselor to camper ratio is 1:12. Approximately 40 hours per week.
Recreation and Education majors preferred, but not required. A true desire
to work with children a must! Employment Dates: early June to mid-August (some
additional training dates required). Hourly Rate: $8-10. Please apply

Internship Opportunity - A comprehensive internship in
community recreation administration is available periodically for recreation
majors, with emphasis on summer youth program administration, or communications
majors, with an emphasis on marketing. West Shore
Rec is an inter-governmental recreation-only agency serving 55,000 residents.
Students gain knowledge in these key areas of community recreation:
- recreation programming—planning, pricing, organizing,
marketing, implementing and evaluating a variety of programs;
- budget development and fiscal management;
- communication skills and cooperative efforts in working
with a board, municipal and school officials and the public;
- customer service and public relations;
- leadership of part-time staff.
